Looking at case studies from Cambodia, the former Yugoslavia, Iran, North Korea, Myanmar and Vietnam, the master class studied the role human rights documentation and mapping play in prosecutions and social reconciliation following mass atrocities.

Within the mapping class, Access Accountability operated a 2-day intensive training workshop on how to apply GIS (Geographic Information Systems) to human rights documentation. Technology used included QGIS, and KoBoToolbox (both free to use). Our trainers for the intensive workshop were mapping expert Arthur Green and forensics expert Matt Vennemeyer.

Learn more about the workshop’s participants:

Transitional Justice Working Group (North Korea)

Justice for Iran

Burma Human Rights Network

Rohingya Human Rights Network

The 88 Project (Vietnam)

[/et_pb_text][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][et_pb_row custom_padding=”0|0px|27px|0px|false|false” _builder_version=”3.19.18″][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.19.18″][et_pb_blurb use_icon=”on” font_icon=”%%266%%” icon_placement=”left” _builder_version=”3.19.18″ global_module=”2191″]

Download the Mapping training itinerary (.pdf)

[/et_pb_blurb][/et_pb_column][/et_pb_row][/et_pb_section]

[et_pb_section fb_built=”1″ admin_label=”section” _builder_version=”3.0.47″ custom_padding=”0|0px|0|0px|false|false”][et_pb_row admin_label=”row” _builder_version=”3.0.48″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”][et_pb_column type=”4_4″ _builder_version=”3.0.47″][et_pb_gallery gallery_ids=”1949,1950,1951,2186″ fullwidth=”on” _builder_version=”3.19.18″ title_font=”||||||||” caption_text_align=”center”][/et_pb_gallery][et_pb_text admin_label=”Text” _builder_version=”3.19.18″ background_size=”initial” background_position=”top_left” background_repeat=”repeat”] In July 2019 Access Accountability ran a training workshop at the Inter-University Centre for Post-Graduate Studies (IUC) in Dubrovnik, Croatia in collaboration with the Geoffrey Nice Foundation and Justice for Iran.
