Our 2018 training workshop focussed on the issue of extra-judicial killings in the Philippines, under the Duterte government’s so-called “War on Drugs”. Practitioners from a variety of backgrounds, including the law, activism and journalism came together to learn about monitoring human rights violations and digital security for human rights defenders. The host organisation, the Documentation Center for Cambodia (DC-Cam), shared wide-ranging experiences related to Cambodia’s transitional justice process following the atrocities of the Khmer Rouge era from 1975-79, including the use of human rights documentation in international criminal justice.
